An unidentified man died after he was found shot and on fire in an alleyway in Queens early Saturday.
Police say the man, in his 20s or 30s, was spotted in an alleyway off of 14th Street near Astoria Boulevard just before 7 a.m. A local told the Post her boyfriend found the burning body on his way to work: "He said, 'Babe, don’t go outside.' He saw the body on fire and called 911."
After the fire was extinguished, first responders realized that the man had been shot in the left side of his chest before being set on fire.
Because of the burns, authorities haven't been able to identify the man yet. "He was burnt badly. It's hard to say who he is. They might have to get a picture and put it side-by-side to ID him," a police source told the Post. "He got dumped here. It is barbaric if you ask me."
The medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the man’s official cause of death.
