A man was fatally struck by a train early Sunday morning as he attempted to retrieve an item from the tracks. Police say that the incident happened around 3:10 a.m. this morning at the Prospect Park station.

The unidentified man, who was in his 50s, jumped onto the tracks to retrieve something, which the Post says was his phone. He attempted to climb back up to the platform but was unable to do so. He became stuck and was fatally crushed by a southbound Q train.

No criminality is suspected, and the investigation is ongoing. This is the latest example of someone being killed after jumping onto the tracks to retrieve some personal item.
