Earlier today, a man was killed near an Elmhurst subway station after an apparent dispute with a younger man.

The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m., when a 69-year-old man and a 22-year-old man had an argument by the 90th Street station and the older man was fatally stabbed. According to WABC 7, "He was stabbed on the street level and there was no interruption to subway service."

One witness told WCBS 880 that the victim was "yelling in Spanish ‘help me, help me,'" adding that the attacker went up the subway station's stairs but then turned back to stab the victim again. The witness said he and other witnesses chased the suspect before the police apprehended him.

The victim was pronounced dead at Elmhurst Hospital. The suspect is identified as Bronx resident Steven Torres, 22.
