A 58-year-old man was fatally stabbed in a church gymnasium last night in the Bronx, apparently because he tried to claim some wedding leftovers and cans of Sterno.

Police say that when they arrived at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church just after 9 p.m., they found Juan Martinez with numerous stab wounds to his right leg. Martinez died at St. Barnabas Hospital, and his 37-year-old cousin was reportedly taken into custody.

A police source told the Post, "They fought about who was going to take the cans of Sterno, which was being used to heat food at the ceremony," as well as the leftovers. And the NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce also said, "We have a person in custody, and we are speaking to him. It is early on in the investigation, but we feel confident that we have the right person."
