Police are searching for a man with a white beard who allegedly murdered a 47-year-old man just outside the Barclays Center on Wednesday night.
According to the NYPD, Steve Vargas was found lying down at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and 4th Avenue at around 8:20 p.m. He'd suffered one stab wound and multiple gunshots to the abdomen, police said, and was rushed to Brooklyn Hospital Center, where he died.
"There was a lot of blood. It was coming from his mouth and nose," Ali Abdul, 25, who works at a nearby grocery store, told DNAinfo. "The police came quickly. They were pushing on his chest three or four times, but I didn't see him responding,"
The suspect is believed to be a heavy-set man with long hair and a white beard, according to witness reports and security camera footage obtained by the NYPD. He was last scene wearing a green sweater and carrying a black bag.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
