Police are investigating a fatal shooting outside a Queens hookah lounge this morning. According to the NYPD, officers responded to a call just before 4 a.m. about a shooting at 25-86 Steinway Street in Astoria. When they arrived, police say they found a 26-year-old man with "gunshot wounds to the body." The victim, Charles Williams of Brooklyn, was pronounced dead at Astoria General Hospital.
Police sources tell WABC 7 reports the incident started inside the Crystal Hookah Lounge on Steinway between 25th and 28th Avenues and then spilled out onto the street. Police told the station "the suspect reached into his white BMW, grabbed a gun and opened fire on the victim before fleeing the scene."
A neighbor told WCBS 2, "I just thought somebody was setting off fireworks in the back and I came out and saw the lights shining through my window."
Police are looking for the gunman. Williams reportedly was found with a gun on him.
