One man was fatally shot and another wounded in a fight that escalated badly outside of a Bed-Stuy bar early this morning, the NYPD says.

Police responded to a 911 call at the corner of Bedford and Lafayette Avenues in Bed-Stuy just after 3:45 this morning, and found a 24-year-old man lying unconscious and unresponsive near the intersection, with a gunshot wound to the torso. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at Woodlawn Hospital.

The second victim, a 23-year-old male, was discovered one block away, at the corner of Bedford Avenue and Clifton Place, with a gun shot wound to the left thigh. He was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition.

The News reports that the fight originated in Why Not! Bar, near the corner of Bedford and Lafayette, before spilling out onto the street. The NYPD, however, is still investigating the matter. According to the News, bullets shattered the glass pane in the B44 bus stop directly in front of the bar.
