A 20-year-old man was shot multiple times and died as a result of his injuries early this morning in Crown Heights, police say.
According to the NYPD, officers responded to a call of a shooting in front of a bodega on the corner of Lincoln Pl and Franklin Avenue at around 4:20 a.m. this morning. The responding officers found a 20-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso. EMS workers on the scene brought the man to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A police spokesperson said that it wasn't clear how many suspects were involved in the shooting, but Fahmi Ali, a witness who works at another nearby deli, told the Daily News that he saw four men behind a car on Franklin Avenue, one of whom started shooting towards the corner.
Ali also said that he saw the victim run into the store on Franklin and Lincoln to hide, and found him in there hiding behind the deli fridges. "I ran over and saw him lying there bleeding from his neck and stomach," he told the paper.
Police are withholding the victim's name pending family notification, and have said that an investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
