Yesterday morning, around 10:30 a.m., a man was shot in the neck on a Brownsville street corner. Brooklyn resident Robert Martin, 26, died of his wounds.
Martin was killed at Riverdale Avenue and Herzl Street. The Daily News points out this was "across the street from a public school where parents arriving for teacher conferences were shuffled in through a back door to avoid the crime scene." P.S. 183 was put under lockdown. A school employee described the scene: "I looked out the window and saw a body laying there. He had blood all around him."
Martin's uncle told DNAinfo, "He works, takes care of his family, he's a good dude. All I know is my nephew is in the street, dead. I'm trying to hold my family together."
Police are looking for a white Jeep Cherokee that was seen at the corner during the shooting. Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS. The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers Website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or texting their tips to 274637(CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
