Man Dies After Walking Between Subway Cars In Chelsea

A 25-year-old man died in a Chelsea subway station on Tuesday night. Police say he had been walking between subway cars on a 2 train shortly before his death.

According to the NYPD, the man was riding a southbound train just after 10:30 p.m. when he somehow slipped and fell onto the tracks while the train was at the 23rd Street 1/2 station.

The man, who has yet to be identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. According to a witness cited by the Daily News, the man was decapitated.

Walking between subway cars is prohibited by the MTA and can result in a $75 violation. A number of people have died while walking between cars.
