A 41-year-old man was critically injured last night after he was stabbed repeatedly by a machete-wielding suspect in a restaurant in The Bronx.

Cops say the unidentified victim was inside El Carboncito on Watson Avenue near Elder Avenue in the Soundview section of The Bronx at around 1:10 a.m. last night. He was approached by the suspect, who allegedly stabbed him with a machete five times before fleeing.

The victim sustained stab wounds to his arm, shoulder and lower back, and was transported to Jacobi Medical Center, where he is listed in critical condition. "He just tortured him," one witness told the Daily News of the altercation between the suspect and victim. "I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy."

Police describe the suspect as a male Hispanic between the ages of 20 and 25. He was last seen wearing a Yankees hat. The NYPD says the investigation is ongoing.
