Port Authority officials say a man was caught carrying $20,000 worth of heroin through Port Authority Bus Terminal yesterday.
A spokesperson tells us that Gobert Taveras, a 32-year-old Bronx resident, was arrested at about 9 a.m. yesterday morning after Port Authority cops spotted him placing a brown paper bag on the ground in the bus terminal, then walk away from it and return to it on multiple occasions.
According to authorities, officers asked Taveras if the bag belonged to him, and he denied, then affirmed it was his. He allegedly hinted there may have been drugs in the bag, and upon further inspection, officers discovered it contained 2,000 decks of branded heroin, each worth about $10; he was arrested, and has since been slapped with felony drug possession charges.
This is the second major heroin arrest at the bus terminal this month—last Friday, a 17-year-old from Syracuse, NY was arrested after cops say they caught him with 444 decks of heroin, along with crack cocaine and marijuana.
