A 42-year-old man turned himself in for apparently accidentally shooting a boy in a Staten Island home on Saturday evening.

Police said that they responded to a shooting at a home on Deisius Street in Prince's Bay; the Staten Island Advance reports that it was during a "family gathering." Around 7 p.m., the female homeowner gave Semion Mosheshvili a 9mm gun that she is licensed to own, but the gun went off and, according to PIX 11, "The bullet went through the floor" and hit a 10-year-old child in the shoulder on the floor below them.

The 10-year-old boy, who was also visiting the house, was taken to the hospital by his mother. A cousin told the Daily News, "He’s going to be OK, he just got stitches on his shoulder."

Moshehvili fled the house but then turned himself in just after midnight. He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment, and acting in a manner injurious to a child less than 17.
