The NYPD is looking for a man they say raped a 42-year-old woman inside a Washington Heights Park last month.

According to police, the victim was walking inside Gorman Park on May 17th at around 7:30 p.m. when the suspect approach her, forced her off the concrete path, and shoved her to the ground. Cops say he then put a knife to her throat and raped her before fleeing.

The attack happened in broad daylight, and area residents say the park is generally safe. "That is pretty traumatic. Especially for a female, because we’re always vulnerable," one woman who frequently jogs in the park told NBC New York. "In this neighborhood I never felt unsafe at any point. So this is shocking for me."

Police say the suspect is approximately 35 years-old, approximately 6'3", approximately 260lbs, with a beard.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
