The NYPD's Special Victims Unit is reportedly investigating sexual assault allegations made by two women against magician David Blaine.
An NYPD source told the Daily Beast that one of the women claims she was sexually assaulted by Blaine, 45, inside his Manhattan apartment in 1998.
The NY Post's sources say that both incidents happened over 20 years ago in Manhattan, and they have a few more details about the alleged altercations:
The first woman to go to the cops told them about a year ago that she met Blaine through a friend in 1997 and went to his apartment, sources said.
There, she believes Blaine hypnotized her and made her masturbate him while she was in a hypnotic state, sources said.
The other woman contacted cops about a week ago and claimed she was sexually assaulted by Blaine in his apartment in 1998, sources said.
Blaine has not been charged with a crime. An NYPD spokesperson said in a statement: "The NYPD takes sexual assault and rape cases extremely seriously and urges anyone who has been a victim to file a report so we can perform a comprehensive investigation and offer support and services to survivors."
As The Daily Beast noted, Blaine was previously accused of rape a few years ago by model Natasha Prince. She said he raped her in London in 2004, which Blaine "vehemently denied" according to his attorney. Scotland Yard detectives later declined to take further action after investigating her claim.
