A resident of Baldwin has been charged with murder after police connected him to a body found behind a business on Merrick Road.
Police accused Raphael Oyague of killing a woman with a hammer, after she came to his apartment on Tuesday night, apparently in a cash-for-sex arrangement worked out after he got in touch with her through Craigslist. According to the Post, police connected Oyague to the murder because of a trail of blood from his apartment to where they found the woman's body.
"The encounter was for sex. There was supposed to be compensation for that sex. There was an argument that ensued, and the subject ultimately hit our victim with a hammer multiple times," Nassau County Detective Captain John Azzata said according to CBS2.
Newsday identified the woman as Deanna M. Wingender, according to court papers. Oyague has been charged with second-degree murder and is currently being held without bail.
