President-elect Donald Trump will take questions from reporters at a press conference for the first time since July 27th of last year, when, as a candidate, he publicly urged Russia to hack Hillary Clinton. Today's press conference, in the lobby of midtown Manhattan's Trump Tower, comes the day after Buzzfeed published salacious but unverified details about an alleged Russian intelligence effort to gather compromising information on Trump, among other things. While the dirty details in the dossier published by Buzzfeed remain unverified, the dossier itself was taken seriously enough by the U.S. intelligence community to warrant briefings for both the President-elect and President Obama last week.
Trump had previously scheduled a press conference for mid-December, to "discuss the business, Cabinet picks and all other topics of interest," but this was canceled without explanation.
