A 29-year-old woman is in critical condition after being hit by a livery cab driver who jumped the curb in Cobble Hill at approximately 12:45 today. An FDNY spokesman says the woman was rushed to Lutheran Hospital in critical condition; no other injuries were reported. The NYPD tells us the driver of a black Lincoln Town car was headed south on Court Street and was trying to turn right onto Atlantic Avenue when the vehicle jumped the curb and hit the woman, then crashed into the Rite Aid across the street from Trader Joe's.
The driver remains at the scene and the investigation is ongoing. DNAinfo reports that the driver hit a truck that was also turning right onto Atlantic Avenue before losing control, but an NYPD spokesperson could not confirm that. (The Post reports that a truck driver hit the livery cab.) According to witnesses, one of the woman's legs was "crushed" by the collision.
