A cab driver was slashed in the neck and back by a passenger in Queens earlier this morning, according to police who say the passenger was trying to rob the driver.
According to the NYPD, police officers responded to the attack around 12:36 a.m. A 43-year-old livery cab driver had dropped off his passenger on Van Cleef Street in Corona and asked the passenger for the fare.
The passenger then allegedly demanded the driver's money, but the driver refused and was slashed multiple times during a struggle, according to police.
The suspect fled and the driver was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
Police are still investigating. WCBS 2 reports "the attacker left a cell phone and wallet behind."
