A limo driver has been charged with drunk driving after he allegedly backed into one of his passengers and dragged him down the street in a freak accident in Crown Heights last night. The victim, identified by police as 53-year-old Viktor Avadyayev, was pronounced DOA at Kings County Hospital, and according to DNAinfo's sources his brother-in-law was the driver.

Avadyayev was getting out of the limo at Kings Highway and Bedford Avenue with two unidentified women just before 7 p.m. The driver, Yan Krainert, was assisting them, but the limo hadn't been put into park, and it started rolling backward. According to witnesses, Krainert jumped back inside the limo in order to stop it, but instead of hitting the brakes, he hit the gas. At that moment, Avadyayev was behind the vehicle and was pinned between the limo and a parked car.

The Daily News reports that the limo, "still moving in reverse, then dragged Avadyayev along four parked cars, popping the side mirrors off a Jeep and two compact cars while the two women watched in horror." Krainert was taken into custody at the scene and this morning the NYPD announced that he's been charged with Vehicular Manslaughter, Criminally Negligent Homicide, and DWI.
