Long Island police officers investigating a public lewdness suspect discovered that he also raped and sexually assaulted unconscious women in New York City, after investigators searched his computer, Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance said today.

"Cameron McDermott is accused of brutally raping and sexually assaulting two vulnerable victims who were incapable of giving consent," Vance said. "He is accused of further violating these women by recording the acts without their knowledge."

Vance added, "Fortunately, this defendant will face justice thanks to a diligent, court-authorized search of his computers and USB drives that uncovered the evidence of these alleged predatory assaults. Many rapists rape again; if you believe you have been a victim of this defendant, or of a similar crime, please call my Office’s Sex Crimes Hotline at 212-335-9373."

McDermott was arrested in January for allegedly "exposing himself to six women and girls, and peeing on one of their legs" in Garden City, NY, in an alleged crime spree that began in September 2016. In one incident, "McDermott came up to a 21-year-old woman at a parking lot at Adelphi University and exposed himself, police alleged. He asked the woman a question and then urinated on her leg, police said. He was wearing a black wig and lipstick at the time, and he also urinated on the woman’s car."

In another, WCBS 2 reports, "McDermott came up to a 36-year-old woman in the [Garden City Parking Field] and started speaking to her—at which point she also realized he was not wearing pants, police said."

Detectives at the Garden City Police Department executed a search warrant and found videos and photographs on McDermott's computers and USB drives that "depicting the sexual assaults alleged in this indictment," according to a press release from the DA's office, which added:

As alleged, the defendant raped and sexually assaulted an unconscious woman inside apartments in the Murray Hill and Gramercy neighborhoods of Manhattan on eight occasions in 2010, and recorded and photographed the sexual assaults. The defendant further recorded and photographed himself raping and sexually assaulting a second unconscious woman inside an apartment on the Upper East Side on five occasions in 2013.

McDermott, who is 31 years old, is charged with one court of rape, four counts of predatory sexual assault, 34 counts of sexual abuse, a count of aggravated sexual abuse and 160 counts of unlawful surveillance.
