LeBron James Tweeted on Wednesday, "New York New York got a treat for yall 2morrow. Stay Tuned." While Deputy Mayor Howard Wolfson wondered, "You've changed your mind about playing for the Knicks?" it turns out the Miami Heat player was just here for Nike's World Basketball Festival. Interestingly, while many other NBA players were interviewed, the Post noticed that James (well, the Post called him "LeCon") was left of out media avails, because "Nike did not want its World Basketball Festival to turn into a boo-fest." A Nike official said, "We wanted to stay away from that." Yeah, can't hurt poor little LeBron's feelings—what if someone brings up Delonte West?
Last night, there was a USA Basketball team scrimmage. According to ESPN, they'll be scrimmaging today at the Knicks' facility and "Then they'll have a closed scrimmage against China on Saturday and conclude the World Basketball Festival with an exhibition game against France at Madison Square Garden on Sunday (1 p.m. ET, ESPN2)." The World Basketball Championships are on August 28.
In other LeCon news, James also participated in a negotiating session between players and the NBA. Also, Charles Barkley can't wait for James to put him on his enemies list; Barkley who previously criticized James said, "I thought his one-hour special was a punk move."
