• Blue Jays 7, Yankees 3: Alex Rodriguez returned and went 2-for-5, but another shaky outing by Phil Hughes cost the Yankees a sweep of the Blue Jays. Phil Hughes lost to Brett Cecil for the second time in 10 days by giving up six runs in six innings. At least he struck out five and walked only one, but he did serve up three home runs. The Yankees host the Orioles on Labor Day.
  • Mets 18, Cubs 5: When Ruben Tejada goes deep, there is an excess of offense. The rookie, filling in for Jose Reyes at short, hit his first career homer as the Mets recorded season highs in both runs and hits (21). Jon Niese received all the runs, and he needed it. He allowed five in six innings. Of course, the Mets will probably go back to not scoring for the next week, but at least they got this explosion in.
