A great pitching duel between both starters turned into a nail biter at the end as the Mets prevailed 4-0. The Amazin’s got on the board in the first when David Wright doubled with two outs and scored on Ike Davis’ single. That 1-0 lead held up thanks to some amazing pitching from Hisanori Takahashi. Takahashi kept the Yankees off balance all night as he went six innings and only allowed four hits.

Angel Pagan provided some big insurance runs in the eighth with a two-run double down the leftfield line and Jose Reyes added a double in the ninth to complete the scoring. The Yankees made things interesting in the ninth, loading the bases thanks to an amazing at bat from Brett Gardner. But, Derek Jeter struck out facing K-Rod and Nick Swisher popped out to David Wright to end the game. The win means the Mets will do no worse than split the Subway Series this year.
