• Mets 6 Minnesota 0: Jon Niese improved to 5-2 with six-shutout innings and the Mets’ bats pounded out 14 hits in the victory. Ike Davis had his 9th home run of the year, Jeff Francoeur his 8th and David Wright added three hits and two RBI’s. The win and the Atlanta loss puts the Mets just a half-game out of first place.
  • Yankees 8 Dodgers 6 Andy Pettitte’s fielding was a huge problem as he made two errors in the third inning which allowed LA to score three runs. The Dodgers eventually built a 5-0 lead, which the Yankees cut to 5-2 on A-Rod’s 11th homer of the season. After giving up another run to the Dodgers, the Yankees built a rally in the ninth.

With one out, A-Rod singled and scored on a double by Cano. Posada singled and Granderson walked before Chad Huffman laced a 2-RBI single to right cutting the Dodger lead to 1. That brought Colin Curtis to the plate with the tying run on third and after a ten-pitch at bat, he grounded the ball to first. James Loney stepped on first and tried to throw home, but it wasn’t in time and Curtis Granderson scored the tying run.

In the 10th inning, Robinson Cano hit a two-run home run off George Sherrill to complete the comeback win.
