• Giants 33 Cowboys 31: When Giants Stadium opened the Cowboys spoiled things by beating the Giants. New York has returned the favor with a thrilling victory in the opening of Cowboys Stadium which included Mario Manningham showing he could be a #1 receiver. Manningham and Steve Smith had ten catches each and the Giants now have two wins and more importantly two wins in the NFC East.
  • Jets 16 New England 9: The Jets did a lot of talking before this game, but give them credit, they backed it up. Trailing 9-3 at halftime, the defense kept the Patriots off the scoreboard while Mark Sanchez led the offense to 13 points. The biggest play won’t show up in the box score. Leading by seven late in the fourth quarter and in Patriots territory, Sanchez smartly took a sack on third down instead of heaving one up and hoping for a big play. Then again, what QB would be dumb enough to just chuck one up there?
  • Mets 6 Washington 2: John Maine has looked great since returning from the DL and in his second start he threw five-shutout innings. K-Rod had to come in and settle things down in the ninth, which he did while earning his 33rd save.
  • Seattle 7 Yankees 1: Joba was bad Joba once again, getting shellacked for seven runs and the Yankees dropped the series in Seattle. New York leads the Red Sox by five games in the division and the Angels by 5-1/2 games for the best record in the A.L.. Coincidentally, they face those two teams in their next two series.
