• Rangers 2, Sabres 1: Henrik Lundqvist sat less than a minute away from a shutout before giving up a goal. The Rangers don't care. They're just happy to get a win. Lundquivst made 36 saves to help the Rangers stop the bleeding from a three-game losing streak. During that span, they had allowed 18 goals. Christopher Higgins and Ryan Callahan had the Blueshirts strikes.
  • Devils 4, Red Wings 3 (SO): At first, the Devils' celebration of the 1995 Stanley Cup championship team looked like it would bring about bad karma. That team, which was honored before the game, beat Detroit in the finals. The Devils blew a 3-1 lead but won when Patrik Elias scored in the fourth round of a shootout. New Jersey had goals from Jamie Langenbrunner, Johnny Oduya and Rob Niedermayer.
  • Lightning 4, Islanders 0: This one was not pretty. The Islanders blew six power-play chances and only got one shot during more than 80 seconds of five-on-three play. Defenseman Victor Hedman, drafted behind the Islanders' John Tavares, had his first career goal.
