• Reds 8, Mets 6: With the game tied at 1 and the bases loaded in the fifth, the Mets thought they had Scott Rolen struck out. But the umpires changed the call from a swinging strikeout to a hit batter and a forced-in run. Jerry Manuel didn't take it too well -- he got ejected -- and neither did Mike Pelfrey. The Mets starter gave up five more runs in the inning to make it seven overall in 4 2/3 innings. The Mets got five runs back in the bottom of the inning when Angel Pagan homered and Rod Barajas and Alex Cora had run-scoring hits, but it wasn't enough.

  • Yankees 3, Athletics 1: Javier Vazquez pitched seven innings of one-run ball, walking two and striking out two. Mark Teixeira, whose average is up to .243, hit a solo homer. The Yankees are a season-high 20 games over .500, but they're only two games up on second-place Tampa Bay, which beat Boston on Monday.
