For the past 10 games, the Rangers have performed well on the power play. But they didn't earn a single man advantage in Thursday night's 4-1 loss to the Blues. Their offense could have used the help. The Rangers fell behind, 2-0 , but a second-period goal by Michael Del Zotto helped keep them close. But a soft goal knocked into the net (over Henrik Lundqvist's shoulders) by Rangers defenseman Dan Girardi ended any suspense in the early stages of the third period. The Blues added an empty-netter for good measure. The loss creates a rare two-game losing streak for the Rangers.
Michael Grabner and Kyle Okposo scored but couldn't keep the islanders from losing their fourth straight game. They lost, 3-2, at home to the Stars. They had 25 shots stopped by Richard Bachman.
