What should have been an easy win turned into a nail-biter as the Mets escaped Cincinnati with a four-game sweep thanks to a 10-9 victory Thursday. New York jumped out to a 9-3 lead, thanks to a four-run fourth and a four-run fifth. Lucas Duda and Jason Bay each came up with the bases loaded and cleared them with RBI doubles. Chris Capuano lasted into the sixth and earned the win, but ended up surrendering six earned runs as the Reds cut the lead to 9-8.
The Mets scored a run off of a wild pitch in the ninth to lead by two, but Jason Isringhausen surrendered a solo shot to start the bottom of the frame. Izzy settled down and got the next three outs and the Mets will head to Washington to face the Nationals.
The Liberty beat the Mystic 75-71 behind 19 points from Cappie Poindexter.
