Islanders 5 Devils 1: A coaching change made no difference for New Jersey and they are now in last place in the Atlantic. Thursday morning, Lou Lamoriello fired John McLean and coaxed Jacques Lemaire out of retirement. Unfortunately, he didn't coax Martin Brodeur out of retirement as well.
Brodeur only managed to stop nine of the fourteen shots he faced, a sharp contrast from the excellent goaltending turned in by Dwyane Roloson who stopped 34-of-35 shots he faced. Roloson's play backstopped the Islanders to their third win in four games and leapfrogs them over the Devils and into fourth place.
Tampa Bay 4 Rangers 3 (Shootout) It took eleven rounds, but the Lightning prevailed in a shootout. Ryan Malone beat Henrik Lundqvist on the glove side to deny the Rangers a second point.
