- Texas 7 Yankees 6: So far this road trip has been a horror show for the Yankees. Friday Night they lost in 13 innings after they couldn’t buy a hit with runners in scoring position. Saturday Night, they saw their great closer meltdown with a lead to protect. Leading 6-5 heading into the ninth, Joe Girardi made the easiest call a manager can make, he summoned Mariano Rivera to close out the game. Rivera gave up a walk, single and then a double to tie the game. After intentionally walking a hitter to load the bases and recording an out, Rivera hit Jeff Francouer to force in the winning run and lose the game. The Yankees will have to figure out a way to beat Cliff Lee today if they are going to escape Texas with a win.
