- Yankees 4, Mariners 2: Alex Rodriguez hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the eighth -- even if he thought it was a walk-off in the ninth -- as the Yankees salvaged the matinee finale of this three-game set. CC Sabathia didn't give up a run until he allowed Seattle to tie the game at 2 in the eighth inning.
He pitched well, though he did it against a team with a batting line that comes up wanting when compared to Francisco Cervelli's. Robinson Cano hit is 16th homer off Ryan Rowland-Smith. That was his 16th homer off a lefty this season, and that's the most in the Majors.
- Nationals 2, Mets 1: The Mets fell on the always-painful game-ending sacrifice fly. Pedro Feliciano took the loss after Ryota Igarashi served up the fly ball to Ryan Zimmerman. Johan Santana pitched well, striking out seven and walking two in seven innings of one-run ball. But he wasn't around for the decision. Ike Davis singled in a run in the first for the Mets' on the run.
