- Mets 8, Cardinals 2: After returning home following a dismal 2-9 road trip, the Mets took it to Cardinals ace Adam Wainright. Jeff Francoeur -- playing because Jason Bay has a concussion -- had a three-run homer, and Carlos Beltran went 2-for-3. Beltran made his first plate appearances against Wainwright since that infamous strikeout looking in Game 7 of the 2006 National League Championship Series. Jon Niese pitched six innings of one-run ball despite recording only one strikeout. Johan Santana starts Wednesday.
- Indians 4, Yankees 1: Who is Josh Tomlin? If you answered, the sixth straight pitcher to beat the Yankees while making his Major League debut, you're right! He held the Yankees to a run on three hits in seven innings as the Yankees fell in Cleveland. CC Sabathia allowed four runs -- only two earned -- in seven innings, and Alex Rodriguez failed for the fifth straight game to hit home run No. 600. He went 0-for-4 on his 35th birthday and also ended the game by hitting into a fielder's choice.
- Liberty 77, Silver Stars 72: Kalana Greene, a rookie, had a season-high 17 points as the Liberty won for the fifth time in seven games and remained one game behind Connecticut for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
