Gary Sheffield also appeared to tweak his hamstring injury. Off the field, the Mets announced Jose Reyes has scar tissue behind his knee. Don't expect him back anytime soon. The good news came from Nelson Figueroa, who pitched 4 1/3 scoreless innings and also tripled in two runs. The bad news -- the Mets are 51-56 and going nowhere.
  • Yankees 8, Blue Jays 4: Some strong relief pitching picked up a shaky Sergio Mitre, who can't be long for the rotation, can he? Alfredo Aceves got the win in relief. With the Rays' win over the Red Sox, the Yankees enter the series 2 1/2 games up. That means they'll only trail by 1 1/2 by the end of the series. The Yankees are 0-8 against the Red Sox this season.
