They had to sweat it out as Jason Isringhausen worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the ninth inning, but the Mets held on in a 4-2 win over the Reds in Cincinnati. All four Mets runs came in the seventh, when Carlos Beltran got them on the board with a sacrifice fly. Daniel Murphy doubled home two more runs and Jason Bay chased him home. R.A. Dickey, who struck out seven and walked one in 6 2/3 innings, hung around long enough to get the win. Isringhausen struck out Brandon Phillips to end the game.

How bad is the Mariners' 16-game losing streak, which the Yankees extended with a 10-3 win on Monday? Derek Jeter has hit two home runs since Seattle last won a game. He has four this season. One of those came Monday as part of another Yankees offensive explosion. Freddy Garcia allowed three runs in 7 2/3 innings. Mark Teixeira hit a two-run homer in the first -- his 27th -- and Jeter added an RBI triple in the eighth.
