• Mets 6, Dodgers 1: The Mets haven't fared well since the All-Star break. Including last night's win against the Dodgers, they're just 2-7, including a sweep at the hands of the Diamondbacks. The Mets got on the scoreboard early in yesterday's game, when an error by Dodgers pitcher Vicente Padilla allowed Jose Reyes to score. A solo home run in the 2nd inning by Ike Davis doubled the Mets lead. New York added insurance runs in the 8th inning, including a base-clearing double by Jason Bay that secured the win for Johan Santana, his 8th of the season.
  • Yankees 7, Royals 1: In a game delayed nearly an hour and a half, fans in the stadium hoping to witness Alex Rodriguez' 600th home run were just treated to another Yankees win, rain and some lightning. They also got to see another (more deserving?) Yankee reach a milestone — Jorge Posada had his 1000th career RBI.
