- Marlins 11 Mets 4: Another day, another bad game for the Mets. Not only did pitchers Jon Niese (pictured) and Elmer Dessens get shelled in the sixth inning with seven runs from the Marlins, Jose Reyes reinjured his right oblique. What makes the loss all the more depressing is that the Mets had four runs in the first three innings. Third baseman David Wright admitted, "We couldn't stop the bleeding," while right fielder Jeff Francoeur said, "The wheels fell off."
- Liberty 85 Fever 73: Madison Square Garden's bright spot: The New York Liberty, who won the first Eastern Conference semi-final game last night, over the Indiana Fever. Cappie Pondexter led the team, scoring 28 points (23 in the first half), and reserve player Essence Carson scored 17 points. The next game is Sunday; the third game, if necessary, will be Wednesday.
