Mets 8, Nationals 5: In their series opener against the Nats, the Mets jumped out to a quick lead against former Yankees pitcher Chien-Ming Wang. Wang, who was making his first start since 2009, allowed four runs in the first inning, with the first five batters all getting hits and the first four runners scoring runs. Provided plenty of run support, Dillon Gee pitched 6 2/3 innings and allowed three runs (two earned) on the way to his tenth win of the season. Jason Isringhausen pitched a perfect 9th inning for his fifth save of the season. New York has won five straight games and three straight since trading Carlos Beltran. Obvious conclusion: Without Beltran, the Mets will win the rest of their games this season.

Orioles 4, Yankees 2: O no! The Yankees are no longer perfect against the Orioles. With their loss on a rain-delayed Friday night, the Yankees are now a measly 6-1 against their Baltimore rivals. AJ Burnett allowed all four Baltimore runs over eight innings. The first Yankees run came in the 6th inning on a solo home run by Mark Teixeira. In the 9th, New York made it interesting by scoring a run, but Brett Gardner struck out with two on to end the game.
