- Rangers 4, Coyotes 1: They need more evidence than a win over the lowly Coyotes that all is well after a recent skid, but the Rangers can be pleased with this effort for at least one day. Nikolai Zherdev had three assists and Brandon Dubinsky scored for the first time in 14 games. The Rangers trailed, 1-0, but tied it before the end of the first period, took the lead in the second and then pulled away in the third. Henrik Lundqvist had 35 saves. They play Tampa Bay on Wednesday.
- Islanders 4, Canadiens 3 (SO): This is about as embarrassing as they come. The Islanders committed a penalty, and, as Montreal worked with an extra attacked and no goalie, goat Ryan O’Byrne put the puck in his own unguarded net. That's the type of thing people expect of the Islanders. Joey MacDonald made two stops in the shootout, and Bill Guerin -- who got credit for the empty-netter -- and Richard Park got the goals.
