Amar'e Stoudemire is the biggest reason the Knicks are doing so well this season, but he can't do it all himself. He had his hands full with Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic in a 112-103 loss on Thursday. Stoudemire had 30 points but only four rebounds, and Howard had 24 and 18. Wilson Chandler had 29 for the Knicks, but Raymond Felton had only 14 points and six assists. The Knicks have now lost three straight games entering their trip to Indiana on Sunday.

An excessive-celebration penalty (or was it an excessive excessive-celebration penalty?) helped Syracuse down Kansas State 36-34 in the Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium. Adrian Hilburn scored on a 30-yard reception and then saluted the crowd, which was enough for a 15-yard penalty. That meant the two-point conversion had to start from the 18-yard line instead of the 3-yard line. That obviously did not help, and the Orange ended up taking its first bowl appearance since 2006.
