- Yankees 6 Seattle 1: What a strange day it was for the Yankees. At various times throughout the day it seemed like Cliff Lee would be changing dugouts and leaving Seattle for New York. But in the end, the Mariners turned around and swapped him to Texas. The Yankees didn’t seem to notice because Mark Teixeira gave them a lead with his 16th home run in the first and Phil Hughes pitched seven great innings to earn his 11th win. Robinson Cano added a two-run triple in the third, Teixeira another home run in the 9th and the Yankees have a seven-game winning streak.
- Atlanta 4 Mets 2: R.A. Dickey pitched well until the seventh when he surrendered back-to-back home runs and that proved to be too much for the Mets to overcome. Billy Wagner pitched a perfect ninth to retire the Mets and earn his 20th save.
