  • Mets 6, Dodgers 1: If this homestand was a referendum on Willie Randolph's performance, the Mets helped his job security. Johan Santana worked into the eighth after enjoying a 10-batter, five-run third. Ryan Church, who will revert to the Ryan Church of old at some point, had a homer in that inning, as did Carlos Beltran. It was Church's first game since May 26 and his first start since May 20 in Atlanta. The Mets make another trip to the West Coast to face San Francisco and San Diego. Oh what a difference a week makes in Metland.
  • Twins 5, Yankees 1: Darrell Rasner turned in his worst outing of the season -- the first that wasn't a quality start -- as the Twins took the third game of a four-game series in the Metrodome. The Yankees' best chance came when a Bobby Abreu liner hit Nick Blackburn in the face. Blackburn would be OK, but the Yankees weren't. They didn't do too much else. They trailed from the beginning -- Minnesota scored twice in the first -- and looked like they were looking forward to the trip back to New York. Too bad they have another game Monday.
