• Thanks NBA!: The NBA ruled tonight that Isiah Thomas cannot coach college basketball and advise the Knicks. It’s amazing the Knicks didn’t check this out before signing Isiah, but also just a temporary reprieve. We all know Isiah will be back with the Knicks at some point.
  • Colorado 6 Mets 2: Jerry Manuel has some explaining to do. Angel Pagan put the Mets up 2-0 with a homer in the first and the Mets took a 2-1 lead into the 8th. But the bullpen faltered after Hisanori Takahashi recorded the first two outs. For some reason, Manuel summoned Manny Acosta with two on and two outs in the 9th and it cost the Mets the game. Acosta threw a wild pitch to move both runners into scoring position and then issued an intentional walk to load the bases. Why Manuel didn’t switch to K-Rod at this point is a mystery, but he didn’t and Acosta gave up a grand slam which cost the Mets the ballgame.
  • Yankees 7 Texas 6: Down 6-1, the Yankees rallied against Cliff Lee and the Rangers’ bullpen. Marcus Thames was the hero as he hit a home run to bring the Yankees to within one and provided the go-ahead single in the ninth. Mariano had to work around a leadoff triple in the ninth to record the save.
  • Red Bulls 1 Toronto 0: Joel Lindpere scored the only goal of the match at the 23-minute mark and the Red Bulls made it hold up.
