Despite the rain, it was a perfect Sunday in New York- if you are a sports fan. Let’s start with the Yankees who completed their sweep of the Red Sox by winning 4-2 and clinched the AL East and home field advantage throughout the playoffs. The Yankees will have a week to prepare for the opening of the playoffs where they will face either Detroit or Minnesota.
Also, we have two 3-0-football teams. The Giants destroyed Tampa 24-0 earning their first road shutout in over 25 years. They pounded the ball, running for over 200 yards while the defense dominated the game, not allowing a first down in the first half and holding Tampa to under 100 yards in the game.
The Jets took care of Tennessee, with a 24-17 victory. Mark Sanchez had two touchdowns in the air and one on the ground while throwing for 171 yards. They are 3-0 and leading the AFC East, but they will face a tough test next weekend in New Orleans.
And finally, in perhaps the most shocking result of the day, the Mets shutout the Marlins 4-0. Pat Misch went the distance and Jeff Francoeur homered. Four games and four wins make it a perfect Sunday in New York.
