• Yankees 6 Detroit 2: With the Yankees’ offense AWOL, it was good timing that CC Sabathia was pitching Tuesday. Sabathia didn’t disappoint as he allowed only two runs over seven innings while picking up his 16th win of the year. The offense, which was without A-Rod again, performed well. Curtis Granderson belted his 12th homer and Robinson Cano added his 22nd. Brett Gardner added two hits and scored two runs. With the win, the Yankees stay in a tie with Tampa for the top spot in the AL East.
  • Astros 4 Mets 3: That score should read Hunter Pence 4 Mets 3 as Pence was the Astros offense. He homered in the first off of Johan Santana, a three-run shot that put the Mets in the hole 3-1. David Wright tied the game at 3 in the eighth inning with his 18th home run, but Pence struck again with another blast in the bottom of the inning to put Houston up for good. The Mets got the lead runner on in the 9th, but they couldn’t bring him around to score.
  • Liberty 78 Indiana 57: The winning streak is now up to 9 as the Liberty blew out the first-place Fever in the second half.
