With three goals in the first period against Martin Brodeur, the Colorado Avalanche removed all doubt early in a 6-1 win over the Devils in Denver. Of the first five shots faced by Brodeur, three went in the net. Ilya Kovalchuk tried to make a game of it by cutting a three-goal deficit to two in the second period, but the Avalanche simply added three more. The Devils had only 19 shots for the entire game. They have three games left on this road trip, including Friday's trip to Minnesota.
