• Blue Jays 8, Yankees 2: Three batters into this game, the Yankees had a 2-0 lead. It was all downhill from there. Toronto starter Ricky Romero retired 26 of the final 27 batters to face him as the Blue Jays won for the second straight night in the Bronx. Dustin Moseley, who pitched well against the Indians last week, found the going a lot tougher against a true Major League lineup. He worked into the eighth but allowed five runs and served up two longballs. Tampa Bay's win over Minnesota pushes the Yankees a game back into second place. Phil Hughes tries to avoid the sweep in a Wednesday matinee.
  • Mets 3, Braves 2: Jeff Francoeur hit a go-ahead homer off Billy Wagner to help the Mets try to stay afloat in the National League East. Francoeur, whose on-base percentage remained under .300, provided some ninth-inning pop to make a winner of reliever Manny Acosta. R.A. Dickey saw his string of 18 consecutive scoreless innings snapped, but he still pitched well. The Mets play Wednesday night in a rubber game before heading to Philadelphia.
  • Liberty 82, Fever 72: Nicole Powell had a season-high 20 points to lead the Liberty to their fourth straight win. They almost gave back an 11-point halftime lead, but they recovered to pull away in the fourth.
