- Yankees 9 Minnesota 6: Do you think Johnny Damon took being benched against a lefty last night personally? Damon showed why he should be in the lineup every night by leading off the game with a home run. It was a desperately needed spark for a team that came into the game having lost 11-of-16. Mike Mussina kept up his unbelievable season with seven strong innings, allowing three runs while striking out five.
But, Mariano Rivera couldn’t complete a five-out save and the Yankees had to go to extra innings to win the game. Xavier Nady and A-Rod went deep in the 12th and Edwar Ramirez pitched a 1-2-3 inning for his first save.
- Mets 4 Washington 3: There are a lot of different ways to drive in the winning-run and Damion Easley has almost 700 RBI’s in his career, but it is probably safe to say he never drove in a run like he did Tuesday when he took one off the helmet to win the game. Thankfully, Easley wasn’t hurt and made a winner out of Johan Santana who improved to 10-7.
