A section of LaGuardia Airport was evacuated this morning after a customer said he had a bomb in his bag, according to the NYPD.

A police spokesperson told Gothamist that sometime between 7:30 and 8 a.m. this morning, a male passenger got into an argument with an employee at the Spirit Airlines ticket counter. According to the Daily News, the argument was about a $50 bag check fee.

The man walked away and then came back with a bag, which he said contained a bomb. The customer was taken into custody by Port Authority police, and the NYPD's bomb squad checked out the bag and found it to be clear of any explosives.

People at LaGuardia shared pictures of Terminal B in slight chaos, as well as a SWAT van on the scene at the airport:

A Port Authority spokesperson told Gothamist that after traffic delays around Terminal B, normal service at the airport was restored by about 9:25 a.m.
